(July 8, 2021) Rebekah from Old Mill High School won the Special Prize in Women’s History during Maryland Humanities’ Maryland History Day. The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center sponsors the prize every year.

Rebekah’s senior paper, From Uncle Tom to The Hill We Climb: The Legacy of Harriet Beecher Stowe, explores the long-lasting impact of the work of the famous author and abolitionist.

Maryland History Day recognizes the work of middle and high school students who explore unique aspects of the State’s history through original documentaries, exhibits, performances, research papers or websites.

Students compete at the school, district, state, and national levels. All public, private, parochial, home, and cyber schools are welcome to participate. Maryland Humanities holds District contests throughout Maryland every February and March.
