Erin Rae Gouldin: Art to inspire change that matters

Reflections from the artist: “My painting practice, rooted in the vibrant city of Baltimore, is driven by a fierce commitment to creativity and social responsibility. Through my work, I aim to explore and celebrate the complexities of womanhood, while also addressing pressing issues of social justice and environmentalism.

With an unwavering belief in the power of art to evoke change, I strive to use my platform as an artist to shed light on feminist discourse and spark conversations surrounding our relationship with nature.

My spiritual connection to the natural world serves as a guiding force in my exploration of activism and the intersection of womanhood, ultimately reflecting a deep reverence for the beauty and power of the feminine spirit.

“Her Name Is Mother!” is a retrospective collection of paintings which I created in an effort to establish a more profound connection to nature. Through an intimate study of plants and animals, I sought to better understand the intricacies and delicate balance of the natural environment.

This close examination resulted in unapologetically realistic imagery that gives viewers a tangible and sometimes uneasy experience.

By initiating a connection to living things for both myself and viewers of my work, I aim to facilitate a collective exploration of ecofeminism and eco-socialism while also inviting audiences to contemplate their own relationship with the natural world.”
