(January 10, 2023) Walk or ride by MWHC’s event venue, 333 N. Charles Street, to view a free rotating collection of art works by Maryland women. Now in its third year, the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center (MWHC) will introduce its 2023 rotating exhibit of the diverse works of female artists in its street-facing display window. Pedestrians and motorists will see regularly changing shows that contain work of women who create in sculpture, acrylics, oils, fiber, photos and more.
MWHC is located at 333 N. Charles Street, in the former location of the historic Woman’s Industrial Exchange. The current artist is Lisa Scarbath, Pieceful Designs (Mosaics from found objects)
Reception 1/19/23, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
“Spotlighting Maryland’s women artists who create in numerous mediums and are from many parts of the state is one of our most beloved programs,” says Diana M. Bailey, Executive Director. “Our location on N. Charles Street is on a busy thoroughfare in a historic neighborhood. It offers a unique and accessible way to showcase women’s immense contribution to the arts in Maryland.”
MWHC invites the public to a free artist reception, open to all, at the beginning of each exhibit. Visitors can meet the artists and learn about their techniques. At the same time, it is an opportunity to step inside the former Woman’s Industrial Exchange, a historic Baltimore landmark. The MWHC is also in the process of researching and preserving the history of the Woman’s Industrial Exchange in its two-year project Memories of the Woman’s Industrial Exchange.
