Throughout the 1980s, Pam Shriver was perennially ranked among the world’s Top 10 women professional tennis players. Shriver first burst onto the international tennis scene in 1978, when she reached the U.S. Open final at age 16. For more than a decade following her debut, she won 21 career singles and 61 doubles. 

Shriver and tennis legend Martina Navratilova formed what some say as the greatest doubles team of all time. they won 20 Grand Slam individual doubles events, including three Grand Slams between 1983 through 1987. They compiled a 109 consecutive match win streak, unparalleled at the time. In partnership with Zina Garrison, Shriver also won the 1988 Olympic Gold Doubles Medal on Seoul, Korea. 

Following her 1996 retirement, Shriver worked as a broadcaster for ABC, CBS, ESPN, and The Tennis Channel in the United States, the BBC in the United Kingdom, and the Seven Network in Australia. 

She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2002.
