(March 3, 2023) The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center (MWHC), a statewide nonprofit that celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of Maryland’s women, will hold an open house on Saturday March 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in its event space located in the former Woman’s Industrial Exchange in Baltimore’s historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood.

Do you have memories or items from the WIE when it operated as a consignment craft shop and popular restaurant? The MWHC is in the midst of a two-year project, Memories of the Woman’s Industrial Exchange,  to preserve the history of the people who made this building a Baltimore landmark.

Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Dr. Amy Rosenkrans, director of the project, will provide an overview of progress and will be on hand for visitors to record their memories for posterity. Student interns from Notre Dame of Maryland’s Morrissy Honors Program, who have volunteered to work on the WIE project, will assist her.

At noon, there will be an artist reception for Paula Darby. Wood is artist Paula Darby’s canvas.  She combines Imagination, paintbrushes and a kaleidoscope of colors to express the essence of uninhibited beauty on a variety of wooden objects. Her work is exhibited in the street-facing window of the WIE. Meet the artist and learn more about her inspirations.

Admission is free to both events and there will be light refreshments during the artist reception
