No one has documented and celebrated the history of the Woman’s Industrial Exchange (WIE) until the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center began a two-year project to preserve artifacts found in the building and to conduct and preserve oral histories of the women who kept the WIE in operation for over 100 years.
Project leader Dr. Amy Rosenkrans provided an overview of the fascinating details found so far at a May 13, 2023 hybrid presentation at the Enoch Pratt Free Library. The Baltimore National Heritage Area is supporting this project with a $15,000 grant. Other donations and support will be used to further expand this project.
