(March 22, 2024) Takoma Park-based acrylic and ink artist Ava Dennis is MWHC’s latest featured woman artist. A free reception (open to all) will take place on Friday April 26, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center at 333 N. Charles St., site of the former Woman’s Industrial Exchange.

Ava’s inspirations derive from the intensity of human emotion and the expressive nature of the human form, and she strives to capture the two in both literal and abstracted approaches. In addition to painting, Ava runs programming at Justice Arts Coalition, an arts-based non-profit working with incarcerated artists across the nation — operating under the belief, in her work as well as personal creative practice, that art is a dire and worldly human need.
